How to be fashion forward on a budget

how to be fashion forward for less

When I’m trying to pack for a vacation I want to make sure I look cute everyday by having a variety of outfits for all the nights out and photo opportunities. The secret is being versatile in the items I bring. My rule is if you can’t see yourself wearing an item with at least 5 different outfits don’t bring it! Here is an inside look at what I will be planning to bring to Europe this summer

Over-sized Tee shirt dress

Pair these with chucks or any other cute sneaker and this outfit is so cute! It can also be used as a nightie if you need to! It’s a comfy outfit choice but also very fashion forward. My favourites are from Adidas and Garage Clothing. Both retailing for less than $50.

The perfect fit high waist denim shorts & Skirts

I have 3 pairs of shorts and 2 skirts that I love and I don’t plan on buying new ones anytime soon. Once you have a pair that fit like a glove you're set. Denim jean requires minimal washing and can be paired perfectly with every crop top in my wardrobe! I pack one blue, and one black denim pair when traveling as they are ideal for days at the beach in my bikini, or nights out in a trendy crop top or one piece.

Crop tops

I have so many crop tops and they are all reasonably priced. Recently I’ve found $10-15 crop tops at stores like Sirens that are almost identical to the expensive ones that Artizia sells. What a bargain! Finding the perfect fit crop top and buying it in all my favourite colours is the way to go!

The perfect fitting Overalls

One pair of cute overalls comes in handy big time! I remember one vacation I wore my favorite white overalls to the beach over my bikini every day. Also, they go great with those cute crop tops I bought in every color, and on days where I feel bloated overalls hide all of that!

The perfect white sneaker

I always go for classic white sneakers because they are perfect for summer and look good with any summer outfit. Classic Vans or Adidas are my favs when it comes to packing for a trip or a Converse sneaker is an inexpensive choice but horrible in my opinion for long distance walking.  I think it’s important to pick a comfy runner/sneaker for those long day excursions and walking trips.

A Mini backpack

Backpacks are making a comeback lately and finding an affordable one is easy now, with most retailers carrying their favourite versions.

The perfect little black bikini

Having a bikini that fits your body shape like a glove is worth a dozen cute ones that do not compliment your figure nicely. It also saves you a lot of money not having to buying new ones.  At the moment my favourite bikini is from Vitamin A Swimwear, the material is durable and doesn't stretch out like some bikinis do after a few wears. The brand fits true to size as well. My go-to budget brand is Triangl Swimwear.

One piece swimsuits

This year I’ve started to love one pieces. They are great because they can act as dual purpose for swimwear or onesies under a skirt or shorts for a night out! Vitamin A Swimwear, Somerfield Swim and Fae Swim are a few favourites for this years one-piece trends. Fashion Nova online sells some cute ones too for reasonable prices!
