How to spend a weekend in L.A
Do you have a travel board? Pin it ❤️
I spent 5 days and 4 nights in Los Angeles. I did a list of activities including site seeing the Santa Monica and Venice area, Six Flags amusement park and a night out in Down Town L.A on New Year’s Eve. With many trips to Whole Foods in between because I'm basically obsessed with their American inventory, the Kombucha selection there is heavenly. Oh, and how could I not mention the fresh nut butters too! Hehe okay, anyways..
Where to stay
Great hot spots are Venice, Santa Monica, Abbot Kinney and Culver city area.
I stayed at an Air Bnb located in Culver City which was a perfect location to be based out of within 20 minutes from downtown L.A and 12 minutes to Venice area with a variety of shops within walking distance too. The space was a beautiful outdoor guest house with a massive lounging room, cozy bed and ensuite. A kitchen was also available where I could make my own meals to ensure my diet stayed on track and within my budget.
Best shops for supplies and groceries
I did most of my grocery shopping at Ralphs, which I found to be the cheapest route with the best variety. Venice Whole Foods was perfect for Salads on the go with a great self-serve food bar with a awesome selection of fresh produce!
I know I'm kinda weird..
Quick and delicious spots to eat out
The eating out options where endless, there’s a great outdoor patio cafeteria on top of Santa Monica Place shopping centre with many choices from restaurants to fast food eats. Third Street Promenade has plenty of dining options within each block too! Abbot Kinney street has some of the most amazing gelato you’ll ever experience at Salt & Straw! If your down in Abbot Kinney please try Gjelina for me, menu includes New American cuisine which people can’t stop raving about! I enjoyed the poke tuna from The Poke Shack in Venice beach it’s very fresh they also make tasty acai smoothie bowls too! Each is within walking distance from each other. I recommend starting at Abbot Kinney street and walking towards Venice.
Fastest way to get around
Getting around L.A is best done through Uber, options available to share a ride cut costs even further. The highest wait time was 15 minutes for a ride and that was New Year's Eve! Renting a car might be a better day options for you if you’re thinking about taking trips to a further beach destination like Laguna or San Diego.
